The closest national park to Arusha town – northern Tanzania’s safari capital – Arusha National Park is a multi-faceted jewel, often overlooked by safarigoers, despite offering the opportunity to explore a beguiling diversity of habitats within a few hours.

The entrance gate leads into shadowy montane forest inhabited by inquisitive blue monkeys and colourful turacos and trogons – the only place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkey is easily seen. In the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater, whose steep, rocky cliffs enclose a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of buffalo and warthog.

Mount Meru Game Lodge & Sanctuary

Nestled between the peaks of Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru Game Lodge & Sanctuary was created in 1959 to provide intimate accommodation to discerning lovers of both wildlife and nature. The lodge is located within 33 acres of mature, well manicured gardens bounded on one side by the tranquil waters of the Usa River and on the other by the Animal Sanctuary.
The lodge comprises 15 double or twin en-suite bedrooms and 2 suites.

The design and character of the rooms are as individualistic as the lodge itself.

All rooms have a veranda with comfortable chairs where guests may sit during the late afternoons enjoying the peace of the surroundings, soaking up the unique atmosphere of the Lodge and watching the animal and birdlife. The suites are located in their own private garden and are ideal also for families and small groups to whom privacy is very important.

Intimate Places have created a completely new look for their guest bedrooms at Mount Meru Game Lodge to include single, queen and king size four-poster, wrought iron beds with fitted mosquito nets, continental quilts (sheets and blankets are available on request), large and small pillows for reading and sleeping and much more.

Arumeru River Lodge

Start or end your Safari at a luxury lodge in dreamlike tropical gardens built on an old coffee plantation near Arusha. Allow you to break away from your tight Safari schedule and take a deep breath.

The Lodge offers a variety of activities that can all be booked here on short notice. Our large solar-heated pool invites for some lazy hours in the afternoon.

Just half an hour away from Kilimanjaro International Airport, our Lodge is the ideal base for the first or last step of the Safari Itinerary like e.g. Arusha NP, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire. Likewise we are the perfect last destination for those coming from the Serengeti and now conclude their trip or start over for a few days on Zanzibar.
