5 Days Tanzania budget safari : Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01: Arusha – Lake Manyara
5 Days Tanzania budget safari depart Arusha the morning for Lake Manyara arriving by lunch time. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Nsya campsite. The Lake Manyara National park is serene and beautiful with main attractions of a rich bird life, tree-climbing lions, its elephants, and hippos that you can see at closer range than most other places. Lake Manyara is an alkaline lake and at certain times of the year hosts thousands of flamingos and a diversity of other bird life. Although it is one of the smallest parks, its vegetation is so diverse enabling it to host a variety of wildlife habitats.
Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks.

Day 02: Lake Manyara – Ngorongoro Crater
5 Days Tanzania budget safari after morning game drive in Lake Manyara proceed to the ‘eights wonder of the world’, the Ngorongoro Crater rim. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Simba Campsite. The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest un flooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder.

Day 03: Ngorongoro Crater
5 Days Tanzania budget safari after early breakfast a 4 wheel drive vehicle will take you 2000ft down the crater, tracking animals. Picnic lunch at the crater before ascending back to the Simba Campsite for dinner and overnight.
The Ngorongoro crater is the world’s biggest whole volcanic caldera at 8300 sq km and is arguably the most stunning arena.
It is frequently described as one of the wonders of the world, not only because of its geological magnificence, but also because it serves as an extraordinary natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s largest populations of large mammals. Ngorongoro and other freestanding mountains are volcanic in origin, formed during the fracturing process that created the Rift valley 15 to 20 million years ago. When it peaked in size 3 million years ago it was a similar height to Mt. Kilimanjaro today.

Day 04: Ngorongoro Crater – Tarangire
5 Days Tanzania budget safari after breakfast drive to Tarangire. Afternoon game drive, meals and overnight at Tarangire campsite. This National Park, gazetted in 1970, is 118km away from Arusha town, which covers an area off 2600sq km that’s about 1600 miles and derivers its name from the Tarangire River that flows through the center of the park. The river flows from south to north/northwest and empties its water in Lake Burungi.
An exceptional collection of “Acacia tortilis” and baobab trees ahs become synonymous with the name. Disused termite mounds are often frequented by colonies of the endearing dwarf mongoose, and pairs of red-and-yellow barbet, which draw attention to themselves by their loud, clockwork-like duetting. Tarangire’s pythons climb trees, as do its lions and leopards, lounging in the branches where the fruit of the sausage tree disguises the twitch of a tail.

Day 04: Tarangire National Park.
5 Days Tanzania budget safari the best time to visit Tarangire National Park to view the wildlife is in dry season, from June-October.
The fierce sun sucks the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red, the withered grass as brittle as straw. The Tarangire River has shrivelled to a shadow of its wet season self. But it is choked with wildlife. Thirsty nomads have wandered hundreds of parched kilometres knowing that here, always, there is water. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It’s the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem – a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

Day 05: Tarangire – Arusha
5 Days Tanzania budget safari after breakfast proceed for a morning game viewing drive, return to our Lodge for lunch, afternoon drive to Arusha where you will be dropped at JRO/Shuttle back to Nairobi.
End of 5 Days Tanzania budget safari services.
